How to Win at Greyhound Racing Greyhound racing has been a form of gambling for many decades. It involves betting on a group of eight dogs who chase a mechanical rabbit around a track. They can run very fast and there are odds of how much you can win based on the order they come in. If you are wondering how to win at greyhound racing then you need to understand the basics of it. You can review all the statistics in the book though and still some upsets are going to occur. You can bet on two dogs to come in as the winners of the race. This is called a quinella and it doesn’t matter which order that the two finish in. This is a way to make some money but it often won’t pay big bucks. You can win more if you bet on the winner of the race and you are right. That means you choose one who will come in first and then who will be second. How to win at greyhound racing though really involves going for the trifecta. You will have to determine who is going to finish in first, second, and third place on a given race. They will have to come into the finish line in the order you choose them to as well. So if the top three dogs are those you chose but in the wrong order you won’t win anything. Some people choose the greyhounds to win based on what they look like and their names. This can result in you winning from time to time but not for the most part. Other people look at the odds. They want something quite favorable but of course that doesn’t pay off very well. You can bet on a long shot and if it comes it there will be a significant payoff. However, it is very unlikely that particular combination of dogs winning the race will occur. Instead you have to be able to properly apply the statistics and information that is offered. There will be a booklet that features information on each dog that will be racing. If you understand how to read it then you can use that information to your advantage. Even so, there are times when dogs trip over each other, they aren’t feeling their best, and even the weather can prevent them from doing as well as someone thought that they would. There are classes that each greyhound falls into. It is important to pay attention to that information as well. Dogs in higher grades have proven then can be consistent with their times. This means you can usually rely upon their statistics more when choosing which ones to bet your money on.
